Hello everyone! My name is Rhonda Elgersma. You may know me from previous roles such as “Rhonda does Mexico” or “Wellington Square Youth Leader” or “Summer Camp Fanatic” but I am beyond excited to step into this newest role as part of the Calvary family!
I am overjoyed to embark on this new journey that God has called me to. It’s a bit surreal that God has opened the doors in this way to be able to pour into leadership development, mentoring, and discipleship of young people – here at Calvary and beyond! I feel a sense of urgency that we, as a Church, need to invest in this next generation. Our young people are hungry… for meaning, for answers, for mentorship. We need to continue to point them to Jesus in that journey! Through facilitating regular worship experiences, small groups, training, discipleship, and pouring into our rich summer camp ministries, we pray lives will be transformed! We desire that young people will deepen their roots and form a stronger faith foundation and develop as leaders in ministry and world around them.
I am super excited about coaching and supporting Chris and Carly in their roles as youth directors and help provide vision and guidance to the youth ministry of Calvary United. What an amazing community this is in how it values its young people! Not every church is blessed to have youth or value the need to invest in them and so it’s important for the Kingdom to find ways to pour into those youth too! I am so impressed with the vision of Calvary to step outside of their walls and their own programs, to be willing to engage in the mission field beyond just this church! Wow!
When I’m not launching this new ministry initiative, I also work at World Renew – a Christian disaster response & international development organization. And of course summer camp. You can’t keep me away! Looking forward to another summer being part of the Leadership Development Camp directing team and supporting our summer camp ministries.
Also, I have recently moved to Guelph – a good central point for my jobs and various communities I’ll be serving in. I’m open to any Guelph tips and places to explore!
