There are many ways that adults can connect with each other and with God within the Calvary Community. Calvary hosts social events to help build friendships, and there are a number of ministry groups in which adult can grow their faith and serve God together. Please contact the office if you are interested in serving in any of these capacities. The “Current Events” Blog will give any additional information on what’s happening in any of these ministries.
Women’s Ministries happen throughout the year. At times Pastor Marianne will host a Women’s Bible Study where women get together to grow in their faith. Each year ladies are invited to become a Secret Sister to another lady in the congregation. Throughout the year sisters pray, think of and send gifts anonymously to one another until the end of the year when identities are revealed. Typically the Women’s Retreat takes place once during the year where women have a time to connect with each other and with God. It’s a weekend of silence, laughter and hearing from God. Please contact Marianne if you would like more information regarding women’s ministries.
Men will often gather informally through out the year, sometimes in work groups, sometimes over barbecued chicken wings, to catch up and encourage each other. Please contact Drew if you would like more information regarding men’s ministries.
The church likes to keep connected with those in their senior years who are now in long-term care facility or have conditions that keep them from taking part in the regular life of the church family. The team also visits those who are more isolated because of family living far away. If you have even just one hour a week to stop by and brighten someone’s day, please let us put you in touch with someone. Please contact Marianne if you would to participate on the pastoral care team, or if you know of someone who would benefit from the pastoral care team.
A practical way for the church family to show concern and care is to provide meals to people who could use a helping hand after surgery, a new baby or other life event. If you are able to donate a freezer meal, or a fresh meal to a family or if you know of anyone in need of this ministry, please contact Marianne.
Members of the church family help welcome people on Sunday mornings. They also volunteer to prepare coffee and serve refreshments after the service. If you enjoy meeting new people and have a welcoming spirit, we would love to have you help us out. Please contact the office if you are interested in helping out.
These volunteers hand out the bulletins, take up the offering on Sunday morning and tally the donations. If you love to make numbers add up with accuracy, let us know. Please contact the office if you are interested in helping out.
This committed group of do-ers looks after the physical upkeep of the church building and property. This includes everything from repairs to grounds clean-up, connecting with trades people and arranging snow shovelling. This team of practical and hands on hand-people could always use more help. Please contact the office if you are interested in helping out.
50+ is a group of people who meet about every other month except July and August. The group meets to fellowship and encourage each other.
Each January the group plans the events for the year. This may include entertainment or invited guest speakers with subjects such as health, safety or personal testimony. Members have also enjoyed country tours and theatre trips.
The euchre club was formed eight years ago, with the purpose of getting to know others at Calvary and also have a fun night out.
Singles, couples, all ages are welcome to join this social group.
Groups of eight people meet once a month ( the 3rd Friday) in members’ homes starting in October ( excluding December) and wind up in April.
Socializing begins at 7:30 PM for half an hour followed by four games of euchre. The evening concludes with a light lunch provided by the host.
Hosting is optional. We also have a spare list of people who do not want to make a monthly commitment, but would like to fill in when needed when regular members are unable to attend .
