Calvary Family Meeting Summary

Calvary Family Meeting Summary

October 29, 2023

What is our Hope?

  • We are a vibrant multi-generational church

  • The fruit of Investment in each generation is in people developing a personal relationship with Jesus. What does investment look like? Both time and money. Where is the impact? It’s walked out at Calvary and in homes, work places, and communities.

  • We will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. (Ephesians 4:15-16 NLT)

Financial Facts

  • Givings are our sole source of funds

  • Even though expenses are lower than anticipated, givings are not meeting expenses with a shortfall of $88,149. In fact, as of September, bill payments had to be delayed until monies were available.

Response

  • We want to be a church of generosity and faith and that involves some risk

  • Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-44 NLT)

  • Talk to God about your priorities in life and how you can respond financially. We don’t want you to feel shame, guilt or fear about what you lay down before God. The amount that you come to is between you and God.

  • Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NIV)
