I love how God speaks to me in different ways to ensure I get a message.
A few weeks ago, I was chatting with someone after church and I realized that they saw me very differently than I see myself. They had primarily experienced me when I was focused on God – worshipping, sharing, studying – my identity being a beloved daughter of God.
Later on, as I was waking from a nap, God impressed upon me that I was believing a lie about my identity. I have been living out of my worldly identity and not out of my identity in Christ. He also pointed out that other people were struggling with the same issue and I should share that at the Encounter service and bless people to recognize the lies they are believing. At the service, I heard that someone else had a similar message from God that afternoon, about lies around identity.
The following week, God brought to my mind an incident that happened many years ago in high school, when my worldly identity was cemented in my mind. With God’s help I was able to tear down that lie and replace it with the knowledge of who I am in Christ. So much more positive!
A week later at the Advent study, God spoke to me again about this lie through a written prayer and the words someone prayed over me.
Fast forward another week… God gave me another installment during a guided prayer. (I have now revised this testimony twice since I submitted it!) This time, He didn’t just tear down the lie, He gave me a new word to replace the lie. He gave me the promise of transformation to a new level.
God spoke to me through 2 different people on separate occasions, when I was resting in His presence, through a memory, a written prayer, and a guided prayer. I’m getting the message!
Ephesians 6:17 (The Passion Translation)
Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies. And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God. Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers.
